Shame on Shinyang Electronics
One more scandal related to child labor has spread out today ! Shinyang Electronics, a Chinese firm, is accused of violating child labor laws. According to China Labor Watch, an NGO who investigates working conditions in Chinese manufacturing facilities; Shinyang Electronics employed 14 years old boys and girls, during 10 hours, and this for a salary of 1.20 $ per hour... what a shame !
The NGO went further and found out that Shinyang Electronics work as a supplier for Samsung. Interrogated, a Samsung spokesperson said the company will investigate the allegations in CLW's new report. He also said Samsung conducted audits of its suppliers in August 2013 and June 2014 and found no evidence of child labor. The question is : did they really did a due diligence about their supplier ? This case is like the one I was talking yesterday about Thai fishing company.
That's easy for a big company to deny it knew that its partners broke the rules. There should be an investigation to make the light on this case. In any case Shinyang Electronics have to stop its activities and those responsible for the problems have to be judged !
